Low Oil Pressure?

Wednesday, March 27, 2019

This just in . . . low oil pressure is really bad on ships.   Luxury cruise ship lost engines due to low oil pressure!

When that cruise ship hit rough water, the oil was not sufficient to be lifted by the oil pumps.   I now have seen the way the oil pan, suction tube and entire system is setup on Home Free’s Lugger engine and as long as there is no rag blocking that suction tube, my engine would have to be practically upside down to not be able to lift oil.

When operating in heavy seas over the past two months, Home Free didn’t have trouble except for that darn rag, but other than that, these Lugger engines are amazing for marine use.   Arguably Home Free is more comfortable than those cruise ships too!   Just missing the crew to cook and clean!
