August 18, 2022
It was on August 18th, 2017 when Home Free became our boat, and what a time it has been.
A big thank you to David Whalley who sold us an amazing, well loved and beautifully maintained boat, and the entire entourage who helped as we diminished our incompetence. James Knight (and the whole team at Yacht Tech), Thanasis Paitaridis in Gouveia, and there are many others (Bob Senter, Steve D’Antonio have never been paid a penny for their great advice on the Nordhavn Owner’s Group, but they have saved me from my skills deficiency many times.)
For those that don’t know, the boat got it’s name because we sold our house, and planned to go cruising. Jinhee was going to retire in early 2018 and we would be off to see the world. As it often turns out with the best of the best, she was instead promoted and the boat has taken a bit of a back seat.
We have also picked up a house again and do hope to spend time there with friends and family, but we look forward to being less home and more free while fitness, social order and finances allow.
As mentioned last week, Jinhee will be finished the bulk of her work responsibilities within a couple of months, and we will try this again.
We look forward to the next five years on the boat (Unless James finds us a reasonably priced upgrade . . . James?!) Tonight we will open a bottle of champagne to celebrate the first five years!
